ummm...isn't that kinda the idea? Absolutely. Which is why I can watch a movie like Plan 9 From Outer Space and be thoroughly entertained while not giving a damn what someone else thinks.

Looking forward to this as well. I actually got to watch some of the filming of this in Petersburg ,Va. not far from where I live. In fact, I wanted to be an extra in the film but I was too late to sign up!

My theory is that the engineers came to think of humans as really stupid, STUPID beings with stupid minds. That couple with the fact they were worried we might discover how to invent a Solarmonite bomb and destroy the universe.

I thought both of those were excellent looking blu's. It's amazing how we all see things differently on our individual setups.

Wow....I can't believe no one has mentioned Bram Stoker's Dracula yet. Although I am personally ok with that transfer even though I did find it excessively dark in certain scenes, I know that it caused a huge uproar around here when it first came out. Maybe I just didn't give this thread...

I personally never quite understood all the negative criticism of this film. It does stay true to the novel more than any other film albeit some dramatic license was taken. Alot of the negative criticism stems from the frenetic pacing with heavy doses of constant stedicam and swooping shots. I...

I agree with simply allowing the software to determine sub placement. If HD DVD can do it surely Blu can too. This should please most folks however the purists who prefer burnt in original subs will most likely not be.

That depends upon the type of setup you have. For those of those of us who use lenses for constant heighth consider it way way UP on the list But here's another thing to consider: Even with the subs designed to be placed below the image area they are never exclusively below the image anyway...

My UK release of Brotherhood of the Wolf on HD DVD from Studio Canal allows me to move the subs up into the viewing area or below it via the A B C D buttons on the remote. I can also change the size to small or large. Very useful for constant heighth setups and for people who have different...
