I've been obsessing about OUTLAWS (1960) lately, which I find to be a truly remarkable series, particularly that first season. I'm hard-pressed to think of a classic TV western as dark or (occasionally) violent as this one. With a two-season run and some high-profile guest stars, one would think...
Sorry I haven't been able to check in here in a while. Life.
Tim Lucas, editor-publisher of Video Watchdog Magazine, has THE DEFENDERS as THE TOP RELEASE OF 2016:

Also I heard from Todd VanDerWerff who put it on Vox's...
Outstanding. Highest I've seen it. This spike is likely due in no small part to LA Times and Wall Street Journal, both of which were from Shout's effort.
I didn't agree with everything in the WSJ article, but I thought it was fine. Re: the Minnow statement -- we should not overlook his added caveat: "you'll be inclined to doubt his word" as well as this countering statement: "there was no shortage of gripping prime-time fare scattered among the...
Just heard that the Wall Street Journal asked for pics, so their article is on the way, and that can only help the seasons 2--4 cause. Great to see the Evanier piece.
I'm continuing to flog the heck out of it on social media as much as I can, with several thousand followers between my Facebook...
Okay, my bad, Sean. The loud groan you hear is me letting out a loud groan. Yes, we're about a third of the way. My misinterpretation of the numbers and the nut.
Well, I'm still plugging away. Maybe harder now. This time it's personal... We will get those other seasons.
I'll see if I can find out the numbers. I'd heard there was going to be an LA Times piece but was hesitant to say anything, since the Wall Street Journal piece hasn't happened yet (at least, that I know of). Hoping it does.
My friend (another DEFENDERS fan) who knows Glenn Erickson/DVD Savant...
Sean, I was asked to do commentaries on several of my favorite episodes, and had a terrific experience. And I'm right there with you; both THRILLER and COMBAT were such exciting releases--a couple of my favorites too.
Really looking forward to Steve Mitchell's Larry Cohen documentary. I've known Steve since I did some commentary on the THRILLER set. Terrific guy, and likes all the right TV. I thought his COMBAT stuff was excellent.
Stephen, very much enjoying your thoughts here.
As Sean said, that is excellent. Thank you for posting it.
I like your observation about Lawrence Preston and agree completely. It's so refreshing. Also find it refreshing when Preston's eyes light up when he hears that a case being handed to him is "murder one." Such a nice human touch. Man...
