And the corrected disc was authored in Nov 2021, a few months after the botched Aug 2021 one. I ordered the US disc new in Feb 2023 from Amazon and it was the original disc. Fall 2023 the UK got the corrected disc as an official release. Both are region free. I mean, come on, y’all.

The moth referenced in this scene appears to have been digitally removed as a possible flaw on the 2021 Warner Archive Blu-ray release of The Ghost Ship (1943). The original theatrical version was not released on Blu-ray or 4K though it was labeled as such. The opening logo was part of that, as was the finale without all of the revised filtering/color timing. That is my point and not up for debate.

I thought the 4K looked stunning - EXCEPT for the exorcism itself. The processing softened the image tremendously, but it appears they stuck with whatever was output to film for the 2000 reissue and left it that way, even on the “original theatrical version”, which isn’t what it claims to be...

I’ve only seen Under Capricorn on DVD and then Blu-ray. It has beautifully composed and shot moments, but it feels so slow and plodding.

I wish someone could explain to me why Under Capricorn is so dull! It’s shot so beautifully, but… Along with The Paradine Case, my least favorite Hitchcock films of the US period.

Keep in mind this has been downscaled to 1080p and the 4K may seem too dark when viewed on a phone or computer, but that’s an aftereffect of converting HDR to SDR. Viewing the 4K HDR on a 4K display reveals so much detail in the darker and lighter parts of the image that an online video...
