Not related to the home video release, but I was able to catch Superman in 35mm at the Plaza Theatre in Atlanta last night. Bonus that it fell on the 85th anniversary of Action Comics #1. Print was not in the best shape (understatement) and the reel changes were off. It was quite funny to see...
I was able to replace my battery. It was not difficult to do.

I did order the kit from ifixit (prying tools).

This re-release of S:TM sure not looking good based on the back cover from this site:

I’m definitely not preordering this box with a press release still leaving us all speculating regarding what is and isn’t on the S:TM UHD BR. Who even knows if the WB “rep” Bill Hunt communicated with has accurate info?
All in all I’m happy enough with the 2018 release, even with that orange...
Responding to earlier comments, I thought it was pretty obvious that Worf was Raffi’s handler in Episode 1 when “you are a warrior” or something life that was said in their text chain.
And I also noticed the Voyager in the end credits, but I think that’s just an Easter Egg showing which...
My take is nothing should have been cleaned up on the theatrical cut with the DE being redone in 4K.
The DE does have matte lines that could have been cleaned up. I don’t have any issues with the ones still in the movie but I wouldn’t disagree with anyone who wishes they were dealt with.
Wanted to add that the Italian disc has one major flaw. No auto resume!
Not a flaw but you also need to select the English audio option from the menu since it defaults to Italian, but that’s totally understandable since it is an Italian release.
Bought this one last year and it’s the only version on my shelf now. It has the correct dialogue for the theatrical cut. There was also an audio “blip” on the Lionsgate, probably due to seamless branching, that only impacted the theatrical cut and not Redux.
Thank goodness for this disc!
Glad more wasn't done to the theatrical cut based on the few hack job "fixes" that were done to it. Still not sure why it wasn't left alone what with the DE getting the 4K treatment.
Was the VHS release Pan & Scan? Perhaps that contributed to some of the conspiracy theories about the diner scene since you would have seen each actor's face and not much else.
