It's encode dependent. MVC allows for 2D playback of 3D files, but only if flagged accordingly on the disc. Many producers would disable this ability on their discs, so until I hear how it's handled here, I'm unlikely to be ordering.
Fun fact: Dolby Digital on film was limited to 320 Kbps on 5.1 and EX tracks. NOBODY does lossless on streaming, including Dolby. The best you get is equivalent to Dolby Digital Plus for bitrates. No streaming service is going to let audio hog bandwidth.
