The long awaited 'Willie Whopper' Blu-ray set comes out this week. We'll be sending the pre-orders later this week. The 'Official' announcement (and article) will be on our weekly Cartoon Research post, but it may be on Amazon sooner. Here's a quick sneak peak at the cover.

Snafu is in replication and will follow soon. Thanks to everyone for your support and patience!

Thanks Dana,

I've been reading the forum for a while and enjoy the talk here... I'll put updates on the projects as here as we get them done. Very happy to have Willie Whopper finished, and the Blu-ray of Private Snafu will be here in the coming weeks as well. Glad to see the animation folks are here!

Ok,

how is the Van Buren set doing as well, didn't think that was right, that the replicator did not follow through and you had to eat the cost to get it corrected, waiting on that as well,

I got my copy yesterday. I had a hand in the restoration of 8 of the 14 cartoons on this set, and it's surreal seeing them completely polished on my digital projector setup.

Going through them one frame at a time gave me a new appreciation for films I'd mostly written off. The drawing and movement is generally superb, with Grim Natwick leading a team of unsung animation heroes like Shamus Culhane, Al Eugster, Robert Stokes, Norm Blackburn, and Bernie Wolf. Keep in mind I went through these mostly with the sound off, so I missed out the first time around on some catchy music. (There's also startlingly detailed liner notes on the soundtracks by Chris Buchman in the booklet.)

It's a nice, satisfying little package that's well-worth the ridiculously low price Steve is charging. Proud to have been part of this one!

I'm really excited. I finally get to the the films that go with a lot of my Grim Natwick drawings in great prints!

VIVA WILLIE!
