Hi all,

I've been looking and searching the forum for some help.
I found a few topics (but old ones) on the Sharp Aquos.

I am looking for a television (60", 70" or 80") depending on how much space they need and obviously the price; my wife (and I) are pregnant.

I live in Austria (work in Germany and I am from the Netherlands) and I was looking at the 70" SHARP LC-70LE857 Big Aquos (Quatron) television; I really like the Quattron technology in the SHARP. Though I recently read (can't remember where) that SHARP might get out of Germany/Europe.
Because of this news, I am not sure if getting a SHARP is still such a good idea, which results in that I don't know which television I should get.
Now I am looking at the SONY KDL-75W855C 75" but is it as good as the Bis Aquos?

How black are the blacks; or is it more antracite?

I will mainly use this television for watching series, movies and playing games (PS4).

I hope you guys and gals can help me!
Thanks in advance.

JP

Sharp and Toshiba are looking at a world wide exit of the TV market in 2 years(if it takes that long, I'll be shocked).

There is simply no profit under $2000, unless it is made in China or Korea(and both refuse to do move from Japan/Mexico).

Sony buys their panels from Samsung.

Regarding black level...the market has spoken...and "what's black level? We don't care anyway"

But regarding reasonable black level...buy a Full Array(FALD).

I would not hesitate to buy a Sharp Aquos anyway.

Hi and thanks for that answer.

I know that many people don't care if their TV shows a darkish grey or antracite colour instead of "real black".

FALD are sold by all brands (probable upper class) or only specific; a quick Google search only came up with a SONY (USD20k) and Vizio (I am not sure if they are available here - will need to google a bit more on that)?

Though the FALD got me interested :thumbs-up-smiley: thank you

The problem I have with getting a SHARP Aquos so "late in the game" for me is what'll happen if there is a defect in a year and a half; would I be throwing money out of the window?

Sharp is just exiting the TV business.

Mitsubishi exited(along with Hitachi) several years ago. Nobody had a problem under warranty.

Nobody, with an extended, had a problem.

There is still support for Mits(and Mits made Samsung) DLP. Those have been off the market more than 4 years.
