Not that I need a new blu ray player yet but I was just browsing and was surprised to find that the newest blu ray players have only HDMI and digital audio out.
This is distressing because my current setup utilizes both the HDMI and composite video outs. The HDMI goes into the big TV and the video out goes into a DVD recorder which I sometimes use to make "mix" discs from my collection. These are long play DVD's with TV shows and movies that I use when I work or sometimes I even go to sleep with them. The DVD recorder is seen at a preview monitor off to the side.
Also, I have a legacy receiver that will remain there until it conks that takes Analog inputs for both 2.0 stereo and 5.1. So, it was already a chore to find a blu ray player with 5.1 analog out. Now, it will be a chore to get a player with ANY analog out when I want to replace the blu ray player.
I know there are HDMI to analog converters out there but I don't know which ones are good or if any are good.
