Well this looks like its time for another celebration as another desired movie title is now available in Blu-ray. Special thanks to Konstantinos who alerted me to this.

Splash (1984) featuring the lovely (and still lovely, and quite active to this day) Daryl Hannah and a early effort from Tom Hanks. Not to mention some comedic elements provided by the amazing (and sorely missed) John Candy ( why didn't I think of that coin drop idea back when I was a boy just getting interested in women ?)
Along those lines, we do get a brief glimpse of Daryl Hannah's lovely "class" but if you really want to see more of the lovely Daryl, check out Summer Lovers (1982, showing at times on MGM-HD and a Blu is on the way, though we still don't know exactly when).

I did mention in another thread by RAH that this movie would make a interesting comparison with Mr. Peabody & The Mermaid (1948). I have Mr Peabody & The Mermaid in my shopping cart for later so I'll get that chance in the future and write it up here.

JB Electronics in Austraila now has this movie available (apparently since 2013). Link here: Splash from JB Electronics.

I always wonder where these foreign releases source their transfers from. I mean, was SPLASH remastered by Disney and they're testing the waters with an Australian release first for some reason? Someone enlighten me.

Madison and Ariel, the two mermaids that re-invigorated The Walt Disney Company.

I will hold off for until April or May for a US release. Otherwise, I will pull the trigger and order.

Thanks for posting this here, Brad!

It's a 99% chance that an American release would have the exact same transfer and extras. The fact that this disc is region free makes that an even stronger bet.

And it's not unusual for Disney to launch certain titles outside of the States. For instance "Aladdin", which has been out for quite a while in Europe, the UK and Australia.

Have had "Splash" for over a year down here (got it on special) -- I'd assumed it had been out in the US and elsewhere for years before we got it down here. There are tons of Warner titles I doubt we'll ever see on sale down here locally so have had them coming through thick and fast via Amazon.

"Yankee Doodle Dandy" never even had a dvd release down here -- un-bel-ievable....

Well since my lovely wife Kyrsten loves mermaid movies, I "got permission" to order Splash along with Mr Peabody & The Mermaid for a Mermaid double feature.

Just put in the order for Splash from JB HiFi. This Friday (payday) is the order for Mr Peabody & The Mermaid.

Well here it is, nearly June 2015 and no Splash here in USA. I did get the Aussie version, very impressive. Got a second copy sent to a lovely niece who grew up loving mermaids. Still hoping. We are getting Summer Lovers this summer .
