As the trusted official standard for real-time worldwide box office reporting, Rentrak provides the only theater-level reporting in the world. Customers are able to analyze admissions and gross results around the world using Rentrak's suite of products.
Rentrak's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian commented, "Lucy" ascends to the top of the worldwide chart earning $27.5 million from 55 territories bringing its global total to $313.4 million. Disney/Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy adds another $21.7 millionfrom 70 markets, its new worldwide cume is quickly approaching $600 million ($586.2) in only six weeks of release. 20th Century Fox's How To Train Your Dragon 2 has reached the $600 million ($607.1) plateau and Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossed the $300 million milestone ($300.3) over the weekend."

I had no idea Lucy pulled in over $300 million (international and domestic combined). And it's looking like GotG will pull in $300 million for its domestic gross (and sniff $600 million for its combined gross).

Guardians still hasn't opened in Japan, Italy and China. Depending on how well it does in China it could wind up with a final world wide total somewhere around $650M-$700M.

Wow, I've actually seen two films in the top ten on one list and the same two in the top 12 on the other, the first time all year that's happened: LUCY and EXPENDABLES 3, which also happen to be the first 2014 Hollywood releases I've actually liked.
