This is (as you can tell from my avatar) my all-time favorite WWII movie. Loved it the first time I saw it on TV in the early 70's and watch it at least 2x a year.

If I'm not mistaken, this is an MGM property but not sure if something TT has access to but, if they do, I think it would make a wonderful TT release. The original BD was released in 2010 as part of a "double feature" with "Kelly's Heroes" and was made from a dated master which is OK but not great. Not sure if a new master is available but, if so, I think this would be a great addition to the TT line-up. Plus Ron Goodwin's great score as an isolated track.

Just sayin'.........

"Where Eagles Dare" is a pre-'80s MGM title owned by Warner...TT has ZERO chance of licensing this one for remastering...you're better off asking Ned Price or George Feltenstein at Warner if you want an upgrade in the current BD transfer, which I believe is already more than adequate...
Thanks! I get confused trying to keep track of who owns what and has licensed to whom! Sorry for wasting people's time.

Speaking of Where Eagles Dare, I have the standard DVD. Does the blu have the intermission and entr'acte that the old laser disc had?

Nope....no intermission or entr'acte. It does have the same extras (trailer, featurette, etc) that the DVD had (the BD is probably the first BD ever bought).

WHERE EAGLES DARE is one of the films I fall back on whenever I'm in the mood to watch a good old-fashioned yarn + war movie. It's exciting, suspenseful, engaging, and everything is expertly accomplished. Perfect non-horror film to curl up to :D

Thanks for the update! I think I'll stick with the standard DVD.

Yes, it's a solid upgrade from the DVD and very watchable on my projector screen. Improvements would be marginal only I'm sure.
Agreed. It's a very muted film color-wise (except for the bright red blood) and they did a lot of "day-for-night" filming.

I've been meaning to pick this up, but crikey, even the old vhs I used to own had the Overture, Intermission and Entr'acte. I knew the dvd was missing those but I thought sure they'd be on the blu-ray. Sometimes I just have to shake my head at the decisions.

That's why I'm sticking to the standard DVD, John. I just know someday, somewhere the overture, intermission and entr'acte will show up and I don't want to have to buy Where Eagles Dare yet again.
