Folks,

In the next day or so a new Android app will go live on the Play Store which includes significant performance improvements and bug fixed.

The iOS version should go in the next week or so, depending on when Apple has a chance to review and approve the app.
Please post here with any issues.

Hey gang,

I do all of my serious HTF reading and posting via computer, but I also use mobile apps on my Android phone (and sometimes iPad, to which I'm totally new) for casual reading and catching up on the go. I have no idea how many forum-reading apps there are, but I went with Tapatalk because, simply, I'd heard of it, and I can check into not only HTF but two other forums which I use only for keeping up with specific information in a handful of threads.

This has been great for quite a while, even with the few shortcomings -- such as no visibility to polls or even to press release / purchasing links -- but the other day I lost a more vital piece of functionality on Tapatalk, and only HTF's site. Quotes within posts are no longer delineated with any kind of highlighting or offset, as they once were -- and still are on the other forums. As an experienced reader here, I can usually recognize that what looks like a regular post is actually a quote of someone else's, but everything is run together with no distinction at all. In the case of longer posts, it's a complete nuisance attempting to skim through the post trying to pick out what the current person is saying, which might be only a one line response that isn't even separated from the rest with a paragraph break.

In other words, this functionality broke, and it happened just a few days ago when I uninstalled and downloaded what is apparently an update to Tapatalk because I was having what seemed to be connection problems with my former version. Once I got everything set up again and identified the quote situation, I downloaded HTF's own app -- and to my great surprise, the same situation exists there, too. Let me state once again that quotes within Tapatalk continue to display perfectly on other forums.

Since I don't live my online life by mobile apps, this is hardly a dealbreaker. But it certainly is a new (to me) major display defect that should be addressed. Otherwise, can there be anything at all on my end that needs to be looked at -- some setting buried somewhere?

Thanks!

Charles,
Unfortunately, this is Tapatalk's fault. Their server plugin for IPBoard (our forum software) has a bug in it that affects the desktop version of the site. We have temporarily disabled their quote functionality and are still waiting for a new plugin to be available.

Decided to add here instead of starting a new thread.

The mobile app, of late, has (best I can describe the problem) stopped asking for the internet.

Meaning...

I'll tap the icon. I'll be able to look at posts and respond anywhere from 2-10 times. Meaning...go "in" 2-10 pages.

I then have to either...

1. Exit the app. Restart it. Even then, the app will sometimes show up and disappear right away. Will get either "forum not responding" or "e-time interrupt"(something like that)

2. Occasionally I can turn on wifi and connect to my router, go 2-10 more times, then I have to then disconnect from wifi and go back to direct network. Back...and forth.

Both my G3 and Pad do this.

The app also does this at work(work 25 miles from home, so different towers), where I don't have the ability to switch on wifi. Only recourse is reenter the app.

This is the only app I use that does this. The website using Firefox or Google on both devices always works.

?????

I can't replicate what you are seeing Sam, so it's hard to figure out what is going on.

My devices work perfectly - for now.

Any other members having the same experience? Maybe it's specific hardware.
