Really looking forward to this. Can't wait to finally upgrade this horror classic to HD.

I know this goes against the grain for Carpenter fans, but this is my favourite of all his films. I absolutely love the creepy, classic horror atmosphere. Totally unmatched in sinister, foreboding terror!

Shout Factory really has become the new Blue Underground....

I'm a huge fan too.  If there is a reason to love horror movies, I'd point to this as a shining example.  Creepy atmosphere can go an awfully long way, and this film has so very much of it.  I can't wait to see how this looks.

The Official Bluray cover

The cover art looks great, just missing Janet Leigh in the group and the fog should be glowing green.

Yuck, can't say I'm a fan of the cover art.  Love the movie though.

See you at the pah-ty, Richter.

I don't think they've confirmed it yet but like the other Scream Factory releases, it'll probably have the one-sheet art on the reverse side of the cover.

My only real gripe about the cover is that the ghosts are too visible. They should be silhouettes with glowing eyes. None of that will have any effect on my purchase though. :)

Yes they have:

"...This new “remix” of the ghostly classic comes to us from artist Justin Osbourn. As always with our Collector’s Editions, the reverse wrap will have the original theatrical key art (the iconic one with Jamie Lee Curtis bolted up against the door)..."

I really do love the fact that they do this. Just goes to show that they really understand what their core customers want. I don't know why more studios don't do this. How hard can it be?

It's worth noting that the new cover art for these Scream Factory releases are mostly pretty good themselves. Although a matter of personal taste, at least they're not just cheesy, lazy photoshop jobs.

They have no other choices, their front covers are awful.

Here are the two covers from MGM, the first one is from 2002 and the second is from 2005 as tie to the remake.

I enjoy the new covers for what they are and love the original Key art that is included.

I'm looking forward to snatching this one up, I never did buy the old DVD. They will be confirming the special features on Facebook at midnight on the 21st.

I'm sure it's no coincidence that that's the same date that Antonio Bay was founded. Clever, Scream Factory, clever.

Wow, the new special features should be great!

I think Scream Factory should officially release every horror movie from now on.

I quite like their covers, although of course I much prefer the theatrical art. Great to have the choice.

Their covers are MUCH better than Arrow Video's horror covers. Without exception, they are absolutely awful. Most of them look like a child drew them. (Actually, most of Arrow's releases appear to be put together by children - from art to transfers to extras).

Shout Factory really are wonderful. Can't wait for Tenebre...

I love them.  It's very refreshing to have original artwork instead of a photoshop collage(generic).

Synapse, not Shout, has TENEBRE (It should still be a totally rad release, and since it is using the French master, it'll look a lot better than Arrow's awful release.)
