I figured maybe since this film is official we can put news into this thread rather than the Disney/Lucasfilm announcement one.
Apparently Collider is reporting a *rumor* that Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, Layer Cake, X-Men: First Class) is likely being lined up as the director Star Wars Episode VII. That's the reason why he's not directing X-Men: First Class sequel.

Their sources tend to be solid, but they are stressing it's a rumor. My reaction if true ...
I thought X-Men First Class was a solid flick, and I probably need to revist Kick-Ass, but it would seem that he has sufficient "geek credibility". I would be OK with this choice if true, I think it's a solid choice by Kennedy/Disney if true.
He also wrote X-Men First Class and the upcoming sequel, along with writing Stardust, Kick-Ass, so I would imagine if he is director he probably will be involved in the scriptwriting process and maybe just be given the overall reigns to the project. I think that's important, because the director doesn't really matter much if the script isn't solid.
