The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the
RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the
RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

A note about Best Buy prices When available, I include Best Buy prices on new releases from their Sunday flyer.  The rest are taken from bestbuy.com.  Often, there will be discrepancies between the flyer and on-line prices.  If you plan on buying a high-profile new release title from Best Buy, I advise you to check both prices and act accordingly.  You can possibly take advantage of their on-line ordering with in-store pick-up, or get them to match their own on-line price, etc.  The price differences can often be substantial.

I wonder if BB will be offering a pre-order steelbook offer for the upcoming Fantasia release, as they usually announce it the week the newest Disney title is released. Posted Image

Thanks Mike, and ouch...where to begin: Toy Story 3 Combo, Mater's Tall Tales (Posted Image), Bridge Over the River Kwai, Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang, Highlander, White Christmas.  I'll hold off on the Sound of Music for a few weeks, but it is an eventual grab

I should add I'm interested in the Pacific, but will save that for a good sale next year.  I have all the episodes sitting on my DVR unwatched, and I already bought he BD import of Goonies as I didn't need all the "stuff" with it.

Here's hoping it will happen. I kind of like the "payment plan" concept of being able to spread an expensive Blu-Ray purchase over a few weeks.

I got together with HTFer Ric Easton today, Adam and he told me the same sad tale.  He said he might buy it anyway...and I told him it must be worth it to clear off valuable DVR real estate!  Posted Image

Just Toy Story 3: 4-Disc Combo Pack for me this week.

Disney Movie Rewards ("DMR") has an $8 off coupon for the Blu-ray Combo Pack. You must be a member of DMR to print the coupon and you can only print 2 coupons. To print the coupon, you will need to install the Bricks / Coupon.com coupon printer applet (or have already used it in the past). The coupon expires 11/8/2010 so act fast if you are going to use it.

Several other of this week's Blu-ray releases are going on my want / wish list for future purchase:

  • The Bridge on the River Kwai
  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
  • The Sound of Music

The Bridge on the River Kwai will be mine when it envitably comes up in a sale a few months from now. The Goonies would be a no-brainer if there was a more economically priced bare-bones release along with the collector's edition.

So as it stands, just The Sound of Music for me. I'll have to make a run to Target right after I get off work and hope for the best. The Target on Central Ave always seems to run out of the good stuff by the time I can make it there. Depending on how I'm feeling Monday night, I might set the alarm clock early Tuesday and head over before work.

Thanks much, Mike! Posted Image

Was going to order the SoM BD and Chitty Chitty BD from FoxConnect (w/ their 10% coupon), but the Target deal looks best for the combo, so I'll probably be doing that come Tues or Wed after I do my preordered Toy Story 3 BD pickup at TRU (assuming their final price will be competitive) -- might also get Mater's Tall Tales BD at the same time for TRU's $10 GC offer on a combined $40 movies purchase, if the pairing qualifies after accounting for DMR coupon + preorder deposit.  TRU seems to have a bunch of Toy Story related deals going starting this week although I haven't seen any news on the rumored/expected Fantasia BD set preorder deal (w/ potential for extra discount on the TS3 BD purchase).

Had originally preordered the Highlander DC BD from Amazon, but canceled the other day in favor of the UK version instead -- will be importing that along w/ a bunch of other titles, eg. probably the UK Alien Anthology BD set, etc.

And don't forget that B&N's 50%-off Criterion sale is rumored to start this week as well, so many of us will probably be stocking up on Criterion titles these next 2-3 weeks... Posted Image

Very expensive month indeed(!), especially since I've got various other things to pick up as well... Posted Image

Mike, I'm positively flabbergasted TS3 didn't make it into first position, picture wise.  Posted Image

Alright, TS3 with the Disney coupon for sure.  The Pacific at some point in the future.  Same for The Goonies.  I think there's a deal for some money off TS1 or TS2 with the purchase of TS3...so I'm in for completing the set.  I may finish up my Futurama series since they're on sale at BB; same with Six Feet Under.  Some of the Stargate seasons look good cheap, too, but only if they're in the new packaging.

All together it looks like Best Buy is laying low in catalogue title sales in preparation for Christmas.  There's not a ton of stuff on sale this week.  Only 150 BD titles and another 150 TV shows on DVD from my admittedly hasty (and sleep-deprived) check.  Too bad I can find stuff no matter how slim the pickings get...

I'll be picking up Toy Story 3 Blu-ray this week and I'll see if I can get someone to get me The Larry Sanders Show for Christmas.

Mike, thanks as always for the stellar work.

Just pre-ordered Toy Story 3 and Sound of Music combo packs. The Pacific is going to be a Christmas present for Dad, I will wait for one of best buy's half off sales on HBO sets for my own copy. That Goonies price seems pretty high, perhaps a price drop in the future will send that my way.

Quite a week. I have TS3 and "Let's Spend the Night Together" on order and will be getting the special Target edition of the Sound of Music BD.

I'll check the reviews to see about whether I want to upgrade to the White Christmas BD.

Was going to order the SoM BD and Chitty Chitty BD from FoxConnect (w/ their 10% coupon), but the Target deal looks best for the combo, so I'll probably be doing that come Tues or Wed after I do my preordered Toy Story 3 BD pickup at TRU (assuming their final price will be competitive)

Looks like the Toys-R-Us price is $34.99. Not exactly competitive IMO. I think I will bail on my pre-order and get it at Target since I have a $5 gift card I use use, plus the $8 DMR coupon, I'll be looking at $11.99 plus tax versus $21.99 at TRU.

And, while I'm at Target, I think I'll snag The Sound Of Music Blu, too.

I thought I saw rumor(s) that the actual TRU price may still end up being closer to the competition even though their recent big book mailing lists it at ~$35. And then, they have other additional deals that might interest some.

Will have to wait and see I guess...

Well..even I gotta give TSoM it's proper due.  The film is an absolute beast.  It only ran in theaters for a jillion years!

For me, this week will be The Sound of Music and TS3 @ Target (first thing Tuesday morning).

As my wife and I were watching a film last night she wandered through my Target flyer and cried out, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is coming out this week!"  Now we haven't ever really discussed CCBB before.  I've never owned the film in any form.  I said, "so?"  She said, 'I loved that movie!"  I replied that, " Well it does have Dick Van Dyke in it and it does feature songs by the Sherman Brothers.  Those are two things I don't take lightly...but..."  She then gave me "the look" while mumbling something about a scary "child catcher.  As scary as the flying monkeys."   I've never seen the film.

So, I'll guess I'll also be taking advantage of the $5 off CCBB when purchased along with TSoM!  Posted Image

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself.Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

FYI, BB's site lists Mater's Tall Tales BD at $19.99 (along w/ the $5-off combo purchase deal w/  TS3 BD)...

I'll be going for Toy Story 3 (Iron Pack), Highlander, V: Season 1 (Steelbook) and The Pacific on blu.  Surprised I'm getting these after last week's expensive list.  No Sound of Music for me though.Posted Image
