Um, yeah. Intel shows off Moorestown, currently planned for Win7CE tablets and Android tablets by the end of the year with new options.

A few notes on what you see here:

1080P rendered video

Quake3 running in OpenGL @ 80-120FPS(!)
N-300 Wireless based transfers

World of Warcraft running

Linux based format is being shown; CE/Android ports coming along later they say.

Interest piqued but they are going to have to really hustle to get up to par with the iPad as far as app depth and I don't have any reason to believe the UX will be anywhere close.

I think (and pardon for saying this) MS and Intel need to focus about taking their traditional, vertical market tablets which have existed for a while (medical) and taking them to the next step. Don't bother competing with Apple on Apple turf, work on improving the turf you already have. It's not as sexy, but it brings in the money.

If this chip is cost- and energy-efficient, could it be used in future iPhones? Intel doesn't care who buys their chips, so long as they buy them.

I don't think Intel cares who they vend this product too.. it's just a CPU with a GPU built in. You're as likely to see it possibly adopted by Android or apple or whoever. Intel is an IP house, not a end-line product manufacturer for the most part.
