Sony Ready to Unveil First BD-50 Blu-ray Titles

Quote:
"In a rather surprising, last-minute announcement, leading the BD-50 charge will be 'Click,' which streets next Tuesday, October 10. Though originally expected to be a BD-25, single-layer disc only, the release will in fact be dual-layer and come packed with all the same bonus features as its standard DVD."
Quote:
"Both 'Talladega Nights' and 'Black Hawk Down' will feature a wealth of bonus content shot exclusively in high-definition. 'Black Hawk Down' will also be the first Sony title to feature the Blu-ray format's proprietary "Blu-Wizard" authoring environment, which promises to deliver extensive interactive content new to the format."

"Blu-Wizard"

I think that's the first time I've heard that term.

"press release expected tomorrow"

Looking forward to more details.

Nice surprise. I had this on pre-order, so I can't wait to give this whirl.

Very interesting! I have CLICK in my Netflix queue, so I'm curious to see how the Sammy handles BD50.

From today's Bits:
Quote:
In other hi-def news today, as we first posted yesterday, Sony has officially announced that Click will be their first 50GB Blu-ray Disc release next week, on 10/10. Black Hawk Down (on 11/14) and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (on 12/12) will also be 50GB dual-layered titles. As we expected, Click will include ALL the DVD bonus content in full 1080p high-definition. Black Hawk Down will include Blu-Wizard, which according to Sony is "a unique playlist technology which lets consumers customize the way they watch special features." The disc will include all of the audio commentaries that were on the 3-disc DVD version, along with the complete The Essence of Combat: Making Black Hawk Down documentary in standard definition (as it was originally shot). Talladega Nights will feature the unrated edition of the film and all of the DVD extras in high-definition (except the Sirius, Daytona 500, Nextel Cup and NASCAR TV spots).

All (well, almost all) the extras on "Talladega Nights" in HD? Wow. Has anyone done extras in HD at this point?
"Would I rather be feared or loved? Um...easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me."
--Michael Scott, The Office
