Anyone have the frequency range of AM and FM radio handy? I'm teaching a class on data communications and wanted to compare the 2 with the range of telephone (ie, 300 Hz-3300Hz)..
That's the range of the carrier frequencies. If you're interested, the baseband frequency response of AM radio is roughly that of telephony or a little better -- standardised I believe at 50-5000 Hz, and FM being the "high fidelity" medium has a baseband of 30-15 000 Hz. This is for monaural implementations only of course; stereo involves subcarriers and all manner of other oddities. For reference, FM falls in the gap between the television channels 6 and 7 as broadcast in the U.S.
