Can anyone tell me the difference between the 'Lion's Gate' versions and the 'Vidmark/Trimark' versions?

For instance...

and

..............

and

Same w/ Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, the 25th Anniversary Show, Etc...

Can anyone please explain??

Is the content exactly the same just released under different studios, or is one more exclusive and features extra skits, etc?

Please help!

Thanks.

Also, what are the "Bonus Editions" being offered on Amazon?

For instance, the Eddie Murphy Lion's Gate was issued twice and one indicates in brackets (bonus edition).

Any ideas??

Sorry, 3 posts in a row...

Does anyone own the 25 Years Of Music box-set?

I don't care about 95% of the performers but I was wondering if it would be worth the purchase just for the extra comedy sketches included, or are they just rehashed from the other Best-Of volumes?

Thanks!

Re: the initial post ... dvds are identical except for the covers.

It looks like the 'Eddie Murphy' one will be re-released with bonus footage.

R -

Are you certain that these reissues are identical?

Trimark told me they were not.

I really don't know because I haven't compared
ALL the versions against each other.

I'm kinda' curious myself. I got the Eddie Murphy tape back in '90 or so, so I was excited about the DVD. I bought the DVD when it came out last year and it had missing bits as well as extra bits. I wonder if the re-release of the DVD has the missing bits from the tape... ?

Yeah, you know what? Just for kicks and giggles
I compared my old Trimark Best of Adam Sandler
against the new Lions Gate version.

They are both the same, though the chapter lineup
(the placement of bits) is somewhat different.

I'm a bit disturbed that people who already own
the Trimark versions have no indication if these
are newly compiled releases or not. I was fooled
into thinking these were new compilations and sort
of saddened to see they are not.

Still, these are great releases and I hope Lions
Gate gets out a few more shortly including
BEST OF SNL by YEAR (such as Time/Life did on VHS)

Has anyone figured out the differences between the Eddie Murphy DVD that came out yesterday and the one that came out last year?

I never saw the dvd that was released last year, but the latest release is still missing a sketch or two from the original vhs release. I'd been looking forward to a particular favorite of mine, with Eddie as a reggae singer performing "Kill The White People" at a benefit. Unfortunately, that one's not included. The extras on the new disc are a photo gallery, the "Focus On Film" Ron Howard (Opie Cunningham) interview as a bonus sketch, and a five minute collection of outtakes (Dion, Mr. T, etc.).

Thanks, Stacy. Sounds like the DVD released last year, then, except for the outtakes you mention. That was something that disappointed me last year was those two missing skits. Fortunately, I still have the original VHS release. The DVD from last year has some stuff not on the VHS release, but I miss the reggae "Kill the White People" bit and the films bit with "Opie Cunningham," but it does add Gumby.

I'll probably pass on this one, since I have last year's, unless I come across one for a stupid low amount.
