I'm a big fan of both of these shows, and I also have been so very in love with Shannen Doherty for the longest time, so I was wondering if there has been any news on any remote possibility of these hitting DVD in the forseeable future. I'm really dying to have these.

Also, if anyone knows who owns the rights to these series, please post it. Thanks.

Even though all the life has been drained out of it for the last few seasons, I'm pretty sure I did initially enjoy Charmed.

Hopefully they release this show... I will pick up season one at least.

I did quick google search for 'charmed dvd' and one of the first results was a link to amazon.com's page for the dvd (which listed it as unannounced, etc.). Anyway one of the comments said that the reason there hasn't been a dvd release is because of Doherty refusing to sign off on relevant documents.

The crazy idea popped into my head that I should actually check out the site dedicated to tv on dvd, and although I found no mention of Doherty, this is what I found:

Other Charmed articles:

Also, some good news for 90210 fans:

I won't quote it because I've probably already done so excessively.

Anyway, hope this helps, and it looks like you'll have 90210 to pass the time until Charmed comes out ;).

edit:

I just read the whole 90210 article and I must admit it's actually not very good news, for fans of the show.

Artisan have the rights to the Twin Peaks pilot and second season, but not the access to decent prints. Paramount do have these prints, but won't give Artisan access. I assume it's the same with Charmed and 90120. So, it looks like it'll be a wait until 2005 until those three shows come out in region-one land (see http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hlight=artisan for Peaks-specific comments). Hopefully Paramount will have everything prepared beforehand, for a prompt release.

I wonder, though, if region two and four will see releases of these shows well in advance of region one, as Paramount do have rights for these shows many/all 'international' markets. There is a precedent for early releases internationally from Paramount, such as with the (supposed) September release of Twin Peaks season two.

I was just reading this article:
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=831

and it is quite interesting after having read the comments here:

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htfo...hlight=artisan

The comments from Artisan re: Twin Peaks made it seem like sale were not great full-stop. But, in reality, they were probably extremely good but still not enough to afford the ludicrous/preventative prices Paramount are changing for print access. They have no intention of selling, and are simply ensuring - even if it means a delayed release - that they will be the ones profiting. I don't blame them - it's good business sense - but Artisan could have been less... misleading in the comments about Twin Peaks linked to above.

I hope no one thinks this is going off-topic, because in all honesty the fates of all three shows mentioned here are heavily tied together.

Thanks for all that info, Matt. 2005 is a long wait. :frowning: Also, don't worry about bringing up Twin Peaks, because I adore that show as well, and welcome any news on its second season.
