My water softener broke the other day and I decided to sit down on the computer to find out if I look up any repair information.

This got me thinking, I really have learned a lot of things from the internet. For example:

A smattering of HTML.

How to build loudspeakers from scratch.

How to build a wind-powered generator from an old car alternator. (I've never done it, but it's fascinating)

All sorts of facts about quasi-crystals, c30 molecules, and penrose tilings.

How to replace the drive gear in my garage door opener.

All sorts of home remodelling tips/ideas.

Not to mention all of the HT related knowledge I've gained from these very forums.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg... I've probably forgotten more stuff from the internet than I ever learned in school. Posted Image

So, what have you learned from the internet?

That the hottest babes are at the Mall of America.

What I have not learnt from the internet is WTF those little silica packets do.

I've learned that I spend more time on this web site forum, than I do most anything else. Posted Image

I joined this forum to improve my appreciation for DVD's, yet I no longer have time to watch DVD's because I am always on this site Posted Image

-You can have all the porn you want, for free :b

-Never tape yourself doing embarrassing things, or it WILL end up on the net.

I've learned that most members of Home Theater Forum appear to have some sort of Internet access.

I learned that you almost never, ever need to pay full price for anything. We even found my wife's new (at the time obviously Posted Image) wedding dress online for 25% of the store asking price, that's crazy.

Does she know her engagement ring was bought at 70% discount from an unauthorized dealer?

Ummm, it's something that Al Gore helped create. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

What did I learn from the Internet?? Lots of great things.

- It has given my career a great boost, because of the technology.
- I've learned that I can buy lots of great things - and get opinions of products on many items that I buy.
- I've realized that I can send E-mail at 2:00 A.M. to friends when they are asleep.
- I've met lots of great people in community or interest forums such as this.

I've learned that 75% of that members of the opposite sex you meet in chatrooms, are NOT members of the opposite sex.

Tim,

A sub-lesson to learn from this would be that THEY might not be the opposite sex you are chatting with!Posted Image

I've learned that there are online resources to help victims of Internet addiction.
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're NOT out to get you.
