Besides being in glorious HD (the WWI scenes were beautiful, and the 5000 member rally at that circus thing)what a freaking performance by Robert Carlyle!
The direction really built up the tension to a point where you felt Hitlers speaches were like a steam valve releasing pressure. Alot of story I did not know, just one problem, there kinda passing over the economic and social conditions that made the climate ripe for the National Socialist party (hey, wasnt that the name the Baath party used too?). I would assume ther trying to save time (I would watch 6 hours if they needed it) and not give the perception that Hitler had some actual validity to his early message.
Anyway, if that wasnt Emmy material for Carlyle I dont know what is. Was anyone watching. Another beautiful looking movie by CBS (Luci Ball was nice too)
