I'm considering an HT integrated receiver in the $2000 range and have been trying to decide between the upper-end Denon and Yamahas, versus the Rotel RSX-1065, which has been suggested to me by my local dealer.

It seems that the Rotel might be the better product, but I'm not sure.

I'm planning on using it for both HT and music, with B&W CM6 front speakers, and equivalent center, rear & sub.

I'd appreciate as many opinions as possible.

Thanks,

David

Before I bought my 1065 , I did an A/B comparison between the Yamaha rxv2300 & Rotel 1055 , the Rotel was a clear winner in the 2 channel stereo mode ( which is more important to me than HT) , having said that , I find my 1065
awsome in HT.

Also , a dealer that sells both Denon and Rotel , clearly steered me towards the Rotel.
I run the 1065 with B&W 604s3/LCR600s3/602s3.

The only way to prove it to yourself is to listen and decide
what you want most .

Listen to your dealer! The Rotel will smoke the Denon & Yami(IMO). Plus it has 5 year warranty and real software upgrades that are free. One thing to remember is that the RSX 1065 will cost about $1800. The RSX 1055 about $1,150. You could get the RSX1055 & RMB 1075 Amp for about $2K for the combo. Something to think about. Or you can get the RSX 1055 for $1,150 being a big savings over the RSX 1065.Is the extra 25 watts worth $650? HMMMMM,Not really...

I think the consenus is the Rotel 1055 will
beat the yamaha rxv2300 in music, but how about HT ? -
Steve did you notice much of a difference?

I currently have a denon 3300 + rotel 1075 amp
and looking to replace the denon.

I've been thinking about going yamaha rvx2300/rxv1300
or rsx-1055 - HT is more important to me than music performance.
I will still use the rotel 1075 to power my choice.

Cheers

I recently set up a Rotel 1065 for someone, and it sounds awesome in his very large room. As we turned it up in volume, it just kept sounding smooth and powerful. It never seemed to run out of steam.

We did this for hours on end. Every concert DVD and every CD sounded excellent. I had always thought that he needed bigger speakers in his room (20x35x10), but the PSB 4T's along with an Hsu VTF-2 sounded 'larger', if that's an accurate way to describe the sound...

Even his wife could hear a big difference, and seemed truly impressed. Receivers don't always do that. For the record, the Rotel replaced an Onkyo 575X. I won't go into direct comparisons, as they are in different price categories entirely. But I will say that from a sound quality standpoint, you can't go wrong with the 1065.

Dave,

You mention to save $$ and go with the 1055. Is this a unit you own and like? Are you recommending it over the 1065? What about bass management?

Thanks.

I purchased the 1065 over the 1055 for the fact that the unit has got more oomph. Sure on paper its "only" got 25 watts/channel more , but the transformer on the 1065 is huge and I wanted a receiver with amps that can tolerate sustained torture , ie , loud listening levels and fluctating speaker impedance.

I didnt compare the Rotel to the Yamaha in H/T , because it won the 2 channel contest and sounded great in H/T.

If I got the 1055 , I would have also got an RMB 1080 to run the fronts ....Im still considering it with the 1065
coz you can never have enuff grunt.

Cheers

I do not own the RSX 1055. I listened to it alot and my friend bought the RSX 1065. I have seperates....
The RSX 1055 sells like Hot cakes because of the price. If you were going to buy a RSX 1065 you might as well get 1055 & 1075 for almost the same money.

There are so many recievers with this Bass Management thing, for me I have no problem with it.Posted Image

Why spend the money for a RSX 1065 when you can get the RSX 1055 & an RMB 1075 AMP for almost the same cash? Unless you have no space whatsoever for seperates.

What kind of speakers do you have? Sensitivity?
