Yes, The Hateful Eight, due to be released in November. I also think this will have some roadshow elements such as an overture, and a film projected aspect ratio of 2.75:1!

This from in70mm.com

27.01.2015
Panavision rebuilt the 65mm cameras being used on "The Hateful Eight". Panavison had to use old notes to rebuild the cameras and Ultra Panavision lenses, some of which were made in the 1950's because the original engineers weren't around anymore. The film will be presented with anamorphic projector lenses at a 2.75:1 aspect ratio, and the film will have an overture and an intermission.
Don W.

04.02.2015
New anamorphic x1,25 projection lenses to be produced.
More than 100 70mm prints to be made - largest 70mm release since "Far and Away".
...to be continued....

Another big(70mm) film that needs, if possible, a decent Blu-ray transfer is The Last Valley (1971). I got out my horrid 4:3 letterboxed DVD and couldn't watch much of it.

I did rent from Netflix a letterbox version. But agree a Blu ray with 5.1 sound would be most welcome.

MGM did the DVD, so I don't hold too much hope.

There's room for hope. MGM did the DVD of Solomon And Sheba and now have leased the film to Twilight Time for a very high quality Blu-ray disc.

I thought the ABC Pictures library (the company that made The Last Valley) was sold to Disney. It's hard to keep track of who owns what these days. I'm not holding my breath for a good looking Blu-ray of this great movie.

Disney owns it but leased it out to MGM. MGM says that their contract prevents them from subleasing to another company so don't set your expectations to high.

Yeah that's why the Criterion Selznick Hitchcocks and Straw Dogs are long OOP.

Has anyone seen Last Valley in 70mm and stereo?

I think I must have done, I saw it when it opened in London's West End (Leicester Square Theatre, I think). I also saw it a couple of years later in the Casino Cinerama in Old Compton Street. Both times it just looked stunning. I think it has one of John Barry's best ever scores, I'm lucky to have the Intrada Records CD. It's one of a dozen or so films that I'd love on a great looking Blu-ray...that I don't think I'll get. Ha, first world problems!

I really hope the roadshows filmed in 70mm make it to bluray.- RYANS DAUGHTER----STAR!---DOCTOR DOLITTLE and others..

trajan, I was not aware that Ryan's Daughter was a roadshow release, since, on Long Island, where I lived, it opened in regular movie theaters, instead of first having a reserved seating engagement there, the way The Sound of Music and The Lion In Winter did.

If I recall correctly RYAN's Daughter did not have a reserved seat run on it's premiere engagement at the Ziegfeld Theater in NYC. Seats were not reserved but you could purchase tickets for specific performances(either 2 or 3 a day). In was shown in Super Panavision 70mm and had all the trappings of a roadshow but without the reserved seating.

Regard STAR! TCM just had a HD showing. It looked quite good.

Even though Ryan's Daughter is one of Sir David's weaker films, I'd have loved to have seen it's terrific cinematography on the screen of the Ziegfeld.

My one theatrical viewing of the film was in a little movie theater in Bellmore, NY, a small town out on Long Island, 4 or 5 miles from where I grew up.

BTW, maybe, in part, because Ryan's Daughter is a large format film, it's DVD incarnation is one of the best looking DVDs that you'll find, IMO.

Does anyone know who has the release rights to HAWAII? I cannot find out anything.

MGM controls the rights. Mr. Lime stated in the Kino threat that Hawaii has been leased but not to Kino. This puts Twilight in front in my opinion. But no confirmation.

It would be great if they showed the 70mm print of The Last Valley on the Cinerama screen at Bradford this year.

If Twilight TIme could do for Hawaii what they did for Solomon and Sheba, I would be jumping to pre-order several copies of it.
