I first took note of him playing the intelligence Major Hogan in the 1993 British series Sharpe's Rifles and Sharpe's Eagle.

I have no knowledge of his personal situation but I have a hunch that in the late 1990s he pulled a semi-Anthony Hopkins and took a second residence here in the States so he could be closer to the Hollywood machine. Otherwise his film schedule during the last five years would have kept some of the now defunct airlines afloat.

Brian Cox is awesome. I wish he would have been in more movies earlier in his career (or maybe he was and I just didn't notice) as I have yet to see a bad performance out of him. He literally becomes Robert Mackee in Adaptation.
