Hey all, I've had my mitsubishi 55809 for about 3 years now and recently when I've turned it on I'll get excess blue on both sides and the picture and the rest looks off color. It might do this for an undetermined time when I first turn it on, could be 5 mins, could be 30 mins,or it could just turn on normally without the blue.
It may have done this once or twice in the whole time I've had it, but recently I've moved and that could be a factor as well. It's now in the unfinished basement where it's cold also, not terribly cold though. It does this with all inputs but usually self corrects itself after a while. Could something be failing, or the move itself damaged it? I think I've ruled out magnetic interference from speakers and such.
Any suggestions on things to check in the service menu, or are their in home repair centers? I'd hate to lug around this 260 lb beast into town! Any other mits 55809 owners out there??

Thanks,

John

hi John

the xx07 and xx09 series Mits are notorious for having a cold solder joint failure on the convergence ICs. the old solder will have to be removed and new solder applied. An experienced tech will be able to do this in your home in about 1 hour, figure 2-3 hours for a tech that is not familar with the Mits TVs.

Call up Mits, they are very familar with the problem.

Please note: DO NOT LET THEM REPLACE YOUR CONVERGENCE BOARD, only have them replace the solder.

Regards

Gregg
