Each time I think of getting a new dvd, I keep wondering what kind of english subtitling has been used.

I can never find a good source/review to tell me whether the english subtitling used is Hard of Hearing (CC) , regular, or both.

I'm looking for regular (or both). It's happened all too often that a so called "english" subtitling option, turned out to be a HoH variant, something that just bothers me while watching the movie.

Is there any way to be sure about the subtitling of newly released films like Hellboy, Man on Fire, or the Star Wars OT dvds?

Thanks in advance...

IIRC, The "official" explanation was that they used the subtitle tracks for the "INFINIFILM" interactivity

Indeed. There are plenty of available subtitle tracks. They could put a warnign the interativity features don't work if you turn on subtitles, but no reason to leave them out all together.
