I preordered Leopard through Amazon a few weeks ago.

The price was $129 for single license; $199 for family pack.

Lo' and behold today I found a significantly better price through
MacZone.

The price was $99 for single license; $143 for family pack.

Anybody have experience with MacZone? Would love to order
through them, but not if a discounted price means I won't get the disc on time.

That seems like a great price, 24% and 29% discounts. I didn't know that Apple allowed their software, especially the newest OS, to be sold at such a discount. Let us know if you learn any more about MacZone and their pricing.

The rep at MacZone explained that they were once a direct
dealer for Apple but no longer. Now, Apple is back in their camp
and offering to share costs to promote this software at a lower
price point.

It all seemed a bit "odd" to me which is why I was trying to find
out how this company fared with any of you.

Apple charges $69 for Tiger at an educational discount, and hopefully will charge the same for Leopard. Is there a teacher or student who could get it for you?

When Tiger was released, it was available pretty widely at a discounted $99 price. I picked up my copy at Fry's.

Ron,

I've ordered thru MacZone over the years and they've been fine. I've never had to return anything though so I can't really speak to that.

I've purchased from MacZone many times over the last 20 years. Not sure I have bought anything from them in a couple years though. I seem to recall they were bought by CWD.

Like Christ says, everyone's gotta know a student or teacher...that's the key to buying Apple software. I bought my iLife and iWork 08 for $39 each. My Adobe CS3 Design Premium for $299. I plan on spending $69 on Leopard.

I'm with Michael though, I think that Leopard's going to be delayed past October. I think the beta testers for the latest builds are still reporting a significant number of bugs, much more than a product that is supposed to be released in two months should have. My bet is by the holidays or in January (isn't Macworld Expo around then?). I'd love to be wrong, I want Leopard sooner rather than later, but I don't think they'll polish it up in time.
