I wouldn't want to have the government involved in building any internet infrastructure! I would't trust them to put things in place to monitor us all directly into the main trunk where they build any type of switching station or data center to route data to NSA centers. That and the endless regulation that big brother is famous for doesn't interest me. At this point in time while corporations are not boy scouts I trust them more and I honestly believe are more technically competent to handle building the infrastructure. I am not suggesting that we do not need some forms of regulation or laws but lets be realistic here we are buried in regulations and laws in this country IMHO.
