I've got Exodus and Man of the West and think the transfers are pretty good considering they only cost $14 each at JB Hifi.
Exodus is dual layer whereas Man of the West is single layer.

IMDB says that there are two versions, one with voice over narration and one with out. It would be great to have both versions, e.g. an alternate sound track.
Or you could wait until a few weeks before it is released and get it for about $15 from importcds.com they sell most Olive Films Blu-rays for around that price.
Doesn't that disc have both widescreen and pan and scan versions on alternate sides of a dual sided disc? I never understood why Fox bothered with the pan and scan transfer. A complete waste of money. It is hilarious that they have chosen to release the Pan and Scan version for their MOD...
It sounds like you need to replace your DVD drive.
Any DVD Burner should have no trouble recognising Warner Archive DVDs because (nearly) all of them are burnt (rather than pressed) DVDs.
