well the titles are "a FEW words..."

anyway i look forward to seeing these for a release.

i wish i had noticed there were no "words" for sparticus before i bought it.

casino first 40-45 minutes are brilliant.
the rest of the film is simply great.

My full review of Casino will be up later tonight. It is easily among the best looking transfers I have ever seen, regardless of HD DVD, BluRay, whatever. The colors are supersaturated but not artificially so, the sharpness can cut eyeballs, and it just oozes warmth. There ARE occaissional dust and damage which was shocking (the universal logo at the start is particularly badly damaged, but otherwise looks fantastic, better than any other logo I've seen from Universal, which is weird) but it is still going to get a 5/5 from me.

Please keep in mind that studio logos, with the exception of digital examples via a DI, are generally dupes of dupes, hence occasional "sparkle."

This is normal.

No; at least not in R1. There was a DTS LD of Casino though. Very happy to see this pic amongst U's first year of HD DVD releases, but would've been even more happy to see a DTS-HD track on it.

I can't find a Blu-ray review of this title. Is there one? I'm watching my Blu-ray copy and although in general it's pretty good, there's a scene early on (Nicky uses a pen to stab an a-hole) where there's smoke that rises up in front of Nicky and Ace, and it looks HORRIBLE! I don't know what's going on, but it must be the result heavy DNR. The smoke looks like globs and discolors their faces. I used to have the SD DVD of this same 10 year anniversary release, and this scene looked perfectly fine for that format.

One issue with this disc is that on certain players (don't know if it's all) it takes FOREVER to load. It takes a full 5 minutes on mine to get to the main menu, it just looks like it's locked up. Once there everything is fine, so just a heads up for anyone else experiencing this unacceptable load time thinking they have a defective disc. Obviously I'm talking about the BR.

Yup, I had that issue on my old Panasonic BD-50 player until a firmware update fixed it (i.e. brought the waiting time down to a somewhat acceptable level).
