My new HT is on the way!!!

That looks to be about the same tweeter height as if a Primus tower was sitting there. The tweeter is about dead center top/bottom of the screen. If you had bought the Def Tech 3, the tweeters would be in the same spot.

If you are worried about the dust covers(the center "raised" part of the woofer)... You could always buy replacement inverted dust covers...That "shouldn't" void the warranty... Just an example...as I have no idea the size of the dust cap...

Like I said earlier... Most people are accustomed to "bloated bass". When they hear a system set "reference"(which is what Aud/YPAO/MCACC etc do)... The initial reaction is... "Where did my bass go?" I'm currently reviewing the SVS 13Ultra. I have it set up where it makes it presence known...but...

My new HT is on the way!!!

Most people aren't used to "reference bass". If you measured it with a SPL meter, you'd probably be shocked how much bass there really is. Like it was alluded to, if you think there isn't enough bass, bump it up a tad. But leave the level in the AVR itself alone now...unless you need to watch at...

My new HT is on the way!!!

No, the AVR is not powering the sub. "gain" is irrelevant to the grand scheme. 20hz takes more power than 80hz. Basically the AVR is making the sub "match" the sonic capability of the AVR. Reference volume is 85db with 20db of headroom. 85db, with most speakers...is 1 watt(assuming you sit 2...

    Cause you want the headroom.

Final "tweek" should be the gain knob on the sub. Cause most people end up liking about a 10% increas in gain...then you can use the AVR for fine tune. But yeah, you want your baseline in the AVR +/-3.

My new HT is on the way!!!

Yes. Basically the AVR at -12 is "too loud" for the sub...it needs backed off... If you have it all the way up, put it around 60%...re-run correction...adjust accordingly. Anything -/+3 is fine. But -12 is way outside...

My new HT is on the way!!!

You probably need to turn the gain down on the sub itself. -12 is as far as the AVR itself can go...You want all the the "gains" as close to 0 as possible...where you have a gain to choose at the other end... By the way, the "only way" to have all the gains at 0 would be if you sat all 5...

By the way, funny story about my Sprite. I bought this one in 1997. I found a club to join. I go to the first meeting driving the Sprite... What do I find in the parking lot of the restaurant? A bunch of Miata's...

    Hey, I've got a '69 AH Sprite...you don't get much more low-tech... And higher-tech(like my Miata) doesn't mean I get bigger grins...

When you use the microphone, it needs to be at ear height and on a tripod.

The Denon is your amplifier. Down vs front is a personal choice. If you have kids, or friends that walk clumsy...they can't kick/play with the driver in a down firing sub. Makes zero sonic difference. As long as the 1713 has all the features you need, great. It has a warranty...as long as it was...
