I used to be on the fence on the subject of lossless, but I am coming around to position that all releases should be lossless. It could not hurt. But I believe a single lossless format should be settled on. Certainly, some titles may not be helped by lossless, but none would be hurt by it, and...
Yes, it was semantics. I should have been a little more careful in my wording, and your comments are accurate. Thanks for posting what I meant, my brain must not have been fully engaged at the time.:D
That is about the whole of it. It is much more likely that BD hardware will support DTS-HD MA then HD DVD which has sided with Dolby TrueHD and made it mandatory to be supported at the hardware level. This could certainly be diferent with HD DVD hardware released in Europe, where DTS HD-MA has...
I am not sure I would worry too much. The theatrical release of this film was the old Dolby system. I am not sure TrueHD is going to gain much for this movie over Dolby+, unless they are completely reworking the soundtrack.
This is probably the most realistic reason for Fox's decision to go DTS over TrueHD. Normal business dealings. It is certainly a contributing factor on how the studios selected sides to begin with.
Guess that must mean that Warner, Paramount, Universal, Sony, MGM and Disney had faulty ears, as they seem to have passed on DTS-HD MA and went with TrueHD or PCM.
That is of course assumming Fox ever gets around to releasing titles again:angry: . The money I had allocated for Fox titles is being diverted to other studios releases.
It not so much that they won't, it is just that they currently do not. I don't bank alot on promises from Sony, or for that matter, any of the hardware companies.
Might be the most sound advise I have heard in this forum for some time. Luckly, my Samsung still does a very fine job with my BD's so I guess I can wait.
