Sorry about asking for extra work, but it's handy to know the numbers for comparison's sake. :)

Do those figures include WB's HD DVD exclusive titles? If so, that makes the percentage figure more understandable, as it would give a huge boost to WB's HD DVD market share. And if that is indeed the case, what was the market share if you exclude the HD DVD exclusive titles and calculate it...

Bill was discussing the Microsoft/Toshiba article that's been floating around the last few days (as have a lot of HD movie websites).

I forgot to mention in my previous post... If you don't think Microsoft is capable of all of this, take a look at what they are trying to do right now with the open document standard. They are losing market share as more and more office suites are able to replace MS Office, resulting in lost...

The article may have been slanted a bit anti-MS, but knowing the way MS does business, it's certainly plausible. Besides, with having big, bad MS to blame for this format war, Toshiba could escape this whole mess as just another victim, rather than a conspirator. :)

Flash memory drives are solid state, and I don't believe they have any moving parts. Not sure about stability though. The price/capacity is one issue (and a difficult one to solve because of all the electronic components required to store bits, but an even bigger one is access speed. They...

Well, obviously being on Toshiba's side didn't work, so if they do offer an external BD player for the 360, that means they moved on to offering profitable accessories to the 360 in an effort to improve current generation console sales, which have fallen into third place.

Pay television is a subscription-based model, so it's not really a good comparison. It's not even one satellite company vs. another, since that leaves out the additional cable companies competing for the same dollars. Every subscription-based television provider provides almost exactly the...

Can we please just stop with the anti-Bill Hunt rhetoric? If people are reading anything into his report of 2/16, it's due to their own bias, not his.

Well, it could be translated as follows.... There isn't enough demand for HD DVD to be profitable, so rather than spend money on purchasing an inventory of upcoming HD DVD discs, they can use the funds to meet the demands for Blu-ray discs.

I still feel that once we get a single HD format, the CEs and studios are going to begin the process to phase out DVD gradually. Once price on the players come down enough, the major CE companies will stop selling vanilla DVD players entirely, leaving that market to the low-budget chinese...

I don't believe the petition asked for all HD DVD discs to stop working and for all current HD DVD players to self destruct. Time to step back and take an objective look at the situation rather than an emotional one.
