The audio on the current UK bluray is miles above the mono mix on the current Region 1 DVD release. I too remember the original laserdisc having stereo, but when the 'offical' DVD from MGM was released in the states, it had only a mono track. Very disappointed was an understatement.

I wished all my blurays looked as exceptional as this one. Can't imagine why anyone would give this blu poor reviews, when there is so many other sub-par releases out there.
