Usually the 30 minute Gunsmokes are syndicated with the Marshall Dillon titles. However Encore Westerns is apparently using the same HD masters as were used for the DVDs, and they were all created with the "Gunsmoke" title and end credits.

I also hope CBS/Paramount releases season 6 of Gunsmoke this year. That would be like "finishing" the series for me too. Season 6 is the rarest of the Gunsmoke seasons to find complete, unedited, and with good visual quality.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case for the 30 minute Gunsmokes, as the regular airings are following the marathon order, and they pretty much are skipping around, with only 6 episodes from the first season,

It looks like the visual quality of the Rawhide and 30 minute Gunsmoke episodes now running on Encore Westerns are on par with what's on DVD. The only caveat is that they might not be airing all the episodes of either series; they're skipping around a bit.

Looks like Rawhide will be premiering on Encore Westerns January 1st with an all day marathon! It'll then air weekdays at 5pm. I'm looking forward to this! Finally, a chance to see all the episodes uncut and not have to wait years for CBS/Paramount to finish the series, if they ever do...

I'm glad the picture quality of the sets aren't as bad as that reviewer makes it sound! Instead of skipping them, I will definitely try to pick up Rawhide Season 4 whenever I find a good deal!

Based on some of the Have Gun-Will Travel prints they have aired, I wouldn't get my hopes up for any better transfers, but I guess we'll see.

If the shows aren't remastered, what was the point of waiting 3 years between seasons? It seemed like part of the rationale for them taking forever were the remasterings.

I guess the question would be then, why are they charging the same price for episodes that aren't remastered? Shouldn't they lower the price? Perhaps they feel not many people are going to buy this release, so that they can get away with the high price and the low quality?
