Twilight Time is a perfect example of what could potentially happen to everyone else but I would like to think that's an extreme example and Criterion, Kino, WAC etc... are much more stable with more longevity than they were.
Another one that keeps me up at night is another huge warehouse fire...
Yes. It's now or never. If the entire physical media industry went under in 5 years everyone else would be sh*t out of luck as every film would start selling on ebay for hundreds of dollars and you definitely won't be able to stream it anywhere or ever watch the film again. It has never been a...
I think it's really smart that WA seems to be taking a page out of Criterion's playbook and is doing 5 releases on the same date of every month. Now if they would only add booklets, nice clear cases and a Warner closet for celebrities to pick their favorites from too.
Warner Archive DVDs were pressed too—until a certain point and then they started burning them on DVD-Rs / MOD. I'm not sure exactly what year that was though.
You just confirmed my greatest fear that DVD and Blu Ray discs don't actually last the 80-100 years that everyone says and really only last less than 20.
These were all released as the Film Noir Classic Collection, Vol. 4 Box Set. (Act of Violence / Mystery Street / Crime Wave / Decoy / Illegal / The Big Steal / They Live By Night / Side Street / Where Danger Lives / Tension)
They seem to be picking and choosing select titles to release from...
I love AH but TBH the movie isn't that great. Even though it's not one of her best roles just b/c it is AH they might upgrade it and it's the only one her Warner / MGM films not out on BR yet.
Good to see They Drive By Night. I made a list of Warner Archive Collection film noir's currently on DVD but not Blu Ray yet. I'm probably missing a lot as well but I think these are most of the big ones. Hopefully all of these will be released at some point. A 500 disc film noir Box set would...
I received a WAC disc and noticed there were tiny scratches on the outer edge of the disc. Upon careful inspection I noticed the bottom of the case had a raised circular "bump" of plastic that I could feel with my finger that was apparently causing the scratches. I inspected my other cases and...
I don't believe WA uses "Eco Blu Ray Cases" but have noticed if you grab the Eco case hard enough you are basically pressing the hard edge of the cut out plastic into the disc. I noticed a few "marks" on the discs that seemed to be from this but was able to get rid of all of them with a...
With the uncertain future about physical media and news about a WB buyout does anyone think that WAC could potentially be shut down as a cost cutting measure if a WB merger were to occur in 2024?
