I don't mind June Allyson as an actress . I like her in the many MGM films she did . But in My Man Godfrey she just seems to be trying too hard to be the mad cap heiress . At times i just wanted her to shut up .
David Niven was fine as Godfrey and Martha Hyer was as beautiful as ever . But June Allyson was a bit grating . Maybe she was trying too hard to fill Lombards shoes .
OK ,when I bought the Ladd set it included "And Now Tomorrow " . They then took away that title and left it at 3 movies for the same price as the original 4. Being a Ladd fan and seeing that I got the set at a good price I went ahead and got the set. I didn't see any official reason why "And...
The problem with the Cooper collection is it has freeze up issues . I had issues when i first bought the collection when it came out . One or more of the movies freezing up . I eventually got a good set . Then about a year ago i went to watch Lives of a Bengal lancer and it now freezes up . It...
The sad part is that there are sooooo many Universal and Paramount (pre 50s) movies that have never seen DVD . And it takes 7/8 months in between releases . Then what do you get 2/3 new to dvd titles and many releases of previously released dvds . Painful .
After all this time 2 new to dvd titles is discouraging . With all the unreleased Universal and Paramount titles why would they only release 2 new titles ? Well 2 is better than none . As long as they get a little more regular with their releases .
Universal MOD program is very sporadic . They put out two waves of titles . Now nothing since sept/oct . They at least used to put out sets through TCM . But that also seems to have dried up .
Watched Murder in the Blue Room tonight . Thought it looked pretty good . Pretty much and old dark house murder mystery . With both Lionel Atwill and Gloria Stuart . Very enjoyable . Drood and Marie Roget up next .
I also watched Supernatural with Randolph Scott and Carol Lombard last night ...
Received Supernatural,Murder in Blue Room and Drood in the mail today .I hope to watch at least one tonight .
By the way, Sinister cinema does carry Murder in the Blue Room from 1944 . I picked it up a year or two ago . Print was ok from what i remember . Not perfect . And yes it is on DVD-R ...
I bit on Drood,Supernatural and Blue Room . I'll keep my fingers crossed that they are nice prints . Had Drood and Supernatural on vhs . And I had Blue Room from Tom Weaver .
Great Imposter is a pretty good biopic with Tony Curtis . Also interested in the Cooper movie Desire with Dietrich . Not to mention Skylark with Milland and Colbert . I did just record that off TCM . Also plenty of Yvonne DeCarlo .
I got China with Alan Ladd and Loretta Young . I thought it looked very good . I also enjoyed the movie . I wish Universal would put out these Alan Ladd films a little quicker . They just trickle out here and there .
I hadn't seen Killdozer since i was a kid back when it first aired . I had a copy I received in a trade years ago but the copy was so bad I couldn't watch it . Compared to that copy the Universal dvd-r was great .
I did enjoy Killdozer . Clint Walker ,Neville Brand,Carl Betz and a young Robert...
Tobuk is 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen . Killdozer is fullscreen being a TV movie .
I thought Tobuk looked pretty good . Killdozer looked ok too . A little dingy . But that could be the way it looked originally .
