Finally broke down and got that last release (#12) of the original "Five-O." I figured that I couldn't listen to the naysayers anymore; after all, what they say is just an opinion. I might like it, and then again I might not.
Believe it or not, I purchased that in 2007 when I was visiting my sister Michel in Maryland. Trouble is, I paid FOX's list price for it ($59.98); that was a mistake that I'll never live down. Fortunately, I did finish it, but still, those substitutions (and that Paul Williams thing) are some of...
I heard from the "Hawaii Five-O Celebration" page on Facebook (which I am a member of) that the "Series Promo" which the #12 (final) release will likely have as a bonus is (or could be) that 1981 syndication reel that I posted earlier in this thread. Is that correct?
I've listened to them before. They are very good, especially for seasons that I haven't purchased, and (as with #12) do not plan to anytime soon. Still, they are good because they are versions of the classic "Five-O" opening theme (which the current show cut in half, shamefully).

Just saw that a while back. I saw the front and back of the packages and saw where they said it would be a 5-disc set. Thanks for the tip though!Albeit I won't be purchasing that last one, I still think that CBS DVD did a great job on the artwork for the front and back of it.
Remember how I said in an earlier post in this thread that I thought that the #12 release would be a 5-disc set? Well, I just found out that this release will actually be a 6-er (6 discs): 5 for all 19 outings, and one more for bonuses, apparently...
There's a couple of things that I'm wondering about this upcoming #9 release:
1. First, what caused CBS to change packaging for #9 to that of one case with all the discs, instead of three slipcases with 2 discs apiece as it was for 2-8 (#1 had four slipcases for 7 discs, with the last case...
Great point. Considering what you said, it's a good thing that CBS didn't use the word "Complete" on their "Fugitive" releases (not only because they were volumes to begin with, but with all the music substitution as well[in the form of Mark Heyes]). It is also good on Paramount that their #2...
They very well could; you never know. On the other hand, they may, considering that "Bored" was omitted from the #2 release, consider it omitted from the possible complete release (which might disqualify that release from using the word "complete"). Of course, that would probably inflame some...
I'm thinking that #12 (if that one comes out) will be a 5-disc set, based on that there were only 19 episodes in that season; the first four discs would hold 4 episodes apiece, and the last disc would hold the last 3, as per my calculations.
It's the #10 theme that's used off the top of this clip. As for that place with the steps leading up to the statue, that's the National Cemetery of the Pacific, otherwise known as the Punchbowl. The statue's name is Lady Columbia.
Aha! No wonder I never saw what the back of the #1 "Hotel" release looked like until I got my copy in the mail.
That aside, why has CBS/Paramount stopped releasing pictures of the back sides of their future releases? Sounds kind of bad for business.
I strongly agree. The box art for all the releases of "Five-O" has been very consistent in its appeal to me. I may purchase this one too, as I have all the others.
I was one of them, too. When the original quartet was broken up after the departure of Zulu (Kono), I thought that the series was going to lose something. It hasn't lost much, if anything, and has been going full steam ahead. I do, however, agree with you about the last season. I've read Mike...
