    Yes it is. Just turn them off in the Settings menu. (And to get back just the English subs for the Italian dialogue, select the 6th subtitle option with your remote.)

    Sounds plausible, but why wouldn't they have done the same thing for the explanatory text that appears in Part II (at the beginning, during Anthony's first communion, etc.)? Those look like the original burned-in text as far as I can tell.
