If the studios believed there was profit to be made by releasing these titles, they wouldn't be licencing them out to Twilight Time in the first place.

Technology will move forward, yes, but the VHS comparison is just silly. We've already moved past the point of diminishing returns. There's only so much information that can be squeezed out of a 35mm frame. The Vistavision titles may derive some small benefit from 4K, but for the vast majority...

While I think all screen shots should be taken with a vat of salt, it most definitely looks scrubbed, unless you think a movie made in 1972 should look like a modern digital production, without a speck of grain. There's detail there, but the grain has been "managed" to death.

I usually don't put much faith into screen shots, but those stills of Frenzy really do look scrubbed to death. It's too bad, as I have a recording of it from one of the movie channels that looks very natural, with appropriate grain and the correct opening credits - so a decent master of it does...

A lot of it depends on the expectations...

Modern audiences will always find something laughable about films made 40-50 years prior, whether it's cliches, filmmaking techniques, special effects, outdated social norms and conventions, and so on. Do you really think audiences in the 70's didn't find many elements of films made in the '20s...

Not trying to condone piracy here, but there absolutely is a grey area. If I lend someone a DVD, that's perfectly legal. If I make them a copy to avoid the hassle of having to ask for it back, that's illegal, even if both actions arguably result in a lost sale. Or if I PVR a show on HBO -...

My guess is they'll fix the typos in the Frenzy credit's and that'll be it. The rest of the problems are deliberate aesthetic choices, as wrongheaded as they may be.
