Love this film and really want to pick this up but I am sort of thinking I should wait because this is such a great picture I feel like someone else will put this out as well (Arrow, Indicator, Criterion). I have sincere doubts this will be the only blu release.

Well, there could be many reasons for a release date switch, not all of them would be classified as a problem. Seems unlikely there would a problem with the scan of the film as that was done a year or more ago, so the issue, whatever it is, is likely something to do with production of the discs...

I don't think that is terrible. Amazon Germany has it listed with a release date of December 31, so seems like an end of the year kind of thing.

So, what I wanted to ask here is does anybody have Tobruk on blu-ray either from Germany or the UK and have any thoughts on the disc and if I should purchase the UK version or the German version?

I like that The Bravados is coming soon as well. I hope that the Germans also get around to releasing Anthony Mann's The Last Frontier as the French have that out on blu already but it may have forced subs.

Any update on when Anthony Mann's The Last Frontier is coming to blu-ray? Somebody mentioned it was coming this year and halfway through the year and I have not seen anything about a release date yet.

Germany would be the first place to look for those it would seem.

I really like the film and Anthony Mann's work in general. Mature's character is funny and a bit bizarre as this nutty almost man-child, but I think he does a wonderful job playing the part and he is fun to watch in it. The film is gorgeously photographed, not that the DVD shows that fact off...

How does that HD copy look, Robert? The DVD is sort of murky looking and is not so hot. I really want to see what the film will look like in HD and if it looks a lot better than the very average DVD.

Wow, The Last Frontier is one of my most wanted films on blu and I can't wait for this. I also really want the Boetticher westerns on blu so I hope that Comanche Station is an indication the others are on the way. I love Germany for Westerns on blu!
