Both films dealt with fairly well-explored ideas in SF, particularly eXistenZ's take on the whole layers within layers theme which has been done to death.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the film; but I didn't find it terribly original - with the possible exception of the marriage of this theme...
Sort of a tough call because the films operate in different venues. Twelve Monkeys was probably more perplexing initially due to the predicament of our protagonist, James Cole and the inherent questions of his sanity, and the paradoxical nature of time travel. On the other hand, The...
