It's the best series of all time in my humble opinion. I'll never forget the first time I saw it in the early 90s on A&E. Not only had I never seen it before, I'd never even heard of it. I couldn't believe how good it was. My favorite series by far. That doesn't mean every episode is top notch...
You can always savor the series in future viewings, but whatever you decide I've enjoyed reading your posts. Makes me want to go through the whole series again myself since it's been a while since the last time I did. I just have so many other shows and movies I'm trying to get through I've...
I think everyone has treated the b/w and color episodes with the same level of critical acceptance. The color episodes of season four just aren't as good as the earlier ones - that's all. And it's not surprising there was a drop in quality. The changes behind the scenes and the fact the show was...
I thought Brian Keith made a good heavy in this - a very different role than I was used to seeing him in.
Harry Townes and Dabbs Greer were also quite good in their roles as creepy police detectives leaning on Kimble.
It's been repeated for years the show was based on the Sam Sheppard case - despite the fact that Roy Huggins had said repeatedly that it wasn't.
I'm inclined to believe the people who were actually associated with the show.
David Janssen defended Quinn Martin's decision to give the series...
According to David Janssen it didn't. If you watch his interview with Mike Douglas he says the show was - up to that time (mid 70s) - the most requested series from the ABC catalog for syndication.
Ballad For A Ghost was really damaged with the removal of Janis Paige singing the song George Eckstein wrote specifically for that episode "Just One Road I Travel". I couldn't even finish watching that episode when I first saw what they did to that scene where Kimble first sees her rehearsing...
Yea, I didn't want to go that route again. Someone on Amazon had posted that all the original stock had been sold and perhaps the sets being sold now were good. I thought I'd take a chance at getting a good set. I'll probably try again sometime in the future.
I'm afraid Amazon is still sending out sets with the bad discs. I just received my set today and it had the replacement music and edited/damaged video. I'll be sending it back a second time.
AMEN!
And not only The MOST WANTED EDITION but the "other" sets he worked on and sent out to fans who felt burned and disillusioned as the half season sets continued to be dumped by CBS with the hacked up soundtrack.
There is indeed and I'm glad I'm not a part of it. I'm happy to have "The Most Wanted Edition" with the corrected discs and I don't have to worry or bother with this latest blunder. Like others I just hope everyone ends up with "The Fugitive" in it's proper form - it's the only way to watch this...
In the final scene of the series, after Kimble is exonerated, Gerard meets Kimble outside the courthouse, and the two men quietly shake hands. But the original plan was to have the two adversaries exchange a few parting words before going their separate ways. "In the first version of that final...
Maybe "dislike" is too strong of a word. I simply don't like the last season as much as the first three. Many fans agree there was a drop in quality for the last season, but still - it's The Fugitive. They did manage to produce some pretty good episodes for the final season and I still enjoy...
I actually like "The Witch" for that very reason - that it's kind of an odd episode. Then again I also like "Devil's Carnival", another oddball episode. I think I'm probably too much of a fanboy to dislike any of these shows until you get to the fourth season. I don't skip over any of these...
I always felt that Ellie is the one that Dr. Kimble should have ended up with when the series ended. Suzanne Pleshette said in an interview one time that David Janssen was the one true love of her life. I think it shows in the episodes they did together. Great chemistry between these two.
Lloyd Chandler was obviously a man with issues (and J.D. Cannon played the character well) so someone of his caliber isn't always going to think and act rationally. He was obsessed with the idea of what could happen if Fred Johnson is brought to trial. That Johnson would say he saw someone...
Well given your track record I'd take the refund.
Nothing you've shared has made me laugh or increased my enjoyment of my own set. The set doesn't need your depressing misfortune to make it any better.
Ken the only thing I can tell you is I bought a set from Amazon when they first came out and it had the five bad discs. When CBS began offering the replacement discs I called the number and ordered them. When those discs arrived they all played fine and I haven't experienced any problems since...
Merry Christmas to all as well. I think the closest we got to a Christmas show on The Fugitive is the very first episode "Fear In A Desert City". I watched the unaired pilot with the commentary by Walter Grauman and Chris Soldo and they pointed out all the christmas decorations on display in the...
Apparently they started shipping corrected sets to suppliers back in October - at least that what Paramount and fugitivedeluxe were saying at the time. I would think it would be safe to order from Amazon at this time.
