Yeah, I imagine they're dreaming of streaming series and spin-offs and prequels and all the usual stuff that they wring out of existing series today. I'm sure this deal was done forever ago but making everything into an endless franchise seems to be falling out of fashion with the general public...
Eh, maybe it's because my expectations were severely lowered and it's not a particularly good movie but I didn't dislike it as much as other folks here did... That's not exactly a ringing endorsement. :laugh:

And I'll even still give Green some credit for trying something different with that one. It didn't work but at least he didn't just try to duplicate the original movie like literally everyone else had done for decades with the Halloween movies (not counting the third one).
Yeah, it's a legacy character. Fans have largely rejected remakes but the studios have fared better with bringing back an old character in a movie so it's an extension of the original movie(s).
That's bad enough but what's really awful is that they're already planning on franchising it rather than letting that happen organically. And from the studio perspective, it has nothing to do with telling a bigger or better story and everything to do with wanting every movie to be a franchise...
