I'm sure you're not supposed to sell off review copies on eBay but I bet some Criterion collectors would pay quite a bit of dough to get the first (albeit screwed up) printing.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but De Palma wouldn't have approved a finished disc so if the squeezing came in further down the line after he approved the transfer, he would have no idea about it until he heard about/saw the disc himself.

Yeah, I think they're useful as a tool to point towards a potential problem that a viewer should keep a look out for. They're not undeniable proof and they're not a reason to storm Castle Criterion with a pitchfork and torch but from my admittedly uneducated POV, I am certainly curious as to why...
