I think a massive problem with Alien 3 is that I know who about 5 characters are and the other 20 characters are so similar and not fleshed out that they might as well be extras. And It's not just the bald heads (though that really doesn't help matters) but they do nothing to differentiate them...
^ My guess would be that they don't want to sink a bunch of money into Alien 5 in case Prometheus 2 doesn't do well. If Prometheus 2 doesn't make money, they'll just let the series sit on the shelf until the inevitable next reboot. If it does do well, they've got Alien 5 waiting on the bench and...
OK, the analogy isn't accurate but my point is that artists shouldn't base their creative decisions on what a vocal minority is going to say. They should only be worried about making the best piece of art that they possibly can.
I understand the guy's point but I think even better advice is to just totally ignore the opinionated assholes on the internet (like myself) and make a movie that he'd want to see. Maybe it'll be good or maybe it'll be bad but people worry way too much about internet opinion and social media...
I think that's one of the smartest move that Cameron made. He knew it was impossible to out-scary Alien so he did something different with the same basic premise.
Surprisingly, I've always managed to keep Alien and Spaceballs separate in my mind. In the sense that when I watch the...
Since the last movie will have come out before their target audience was even born, I'd be surprised if this movie has much continuity with any of the others beyond a reference here and there for the fans. Honestly, I'll be surprised if the connections to the first two movies extend much beyond...
I liked (not loved) Prometheus well enough but Black Hawk Down wasn't too bad and I remember thinking Hannibal was OK when I saw it. I'm probably being harder on Ridley Scott than is fair but given the work he has turned out since Blade Runner, his reputation as one of the greats of film...
I know I'm a minority but until the crappy ending, I think Alien Resurrection is far superior to Alien 3. I'm a huge fan of David Fincher but while Alien 3 is a good looking movie and has interesting ideas, it's ultimately not that good of a movie. At least, Alien Resurrection has some exciting...
I'll see any Alien movie but since it's been about 30 years since they've done a really great one, I'm going to be cautiously optimistic. Hopefully, Blomkamp is allowed to make an R rated movie.
