Looks like only good option for us is a cheap/used macbook, then maybe an iPad later on.
No back up currently, I would love to get another macbook used, that i could just pop my hd into but even used ones are $500-600. I don't know anyone with a mac, most of my friends barely use a computer. Besides, have you ever tried to open one of these things, there is seemingly 50 screws...

Ok I finally got it to work. I had to restore then jailreak it again, several times but I got it. The bad is that when I ran restore I coulnd't figure out what back up was the one I just did. There was only 5 on there and the only dated one was from 2 years ago.
