Good to see CoM with 3 Oscar noms. Editing, Cinematography, and Adapted Screenplay. Was hoping Cuaron would get a Best Director nom as well one for Best Picture. :frowning:....I knew Clive Owen was a long shot indeed but he was still fantastic in this.

Took in a late afternoon showing of Children of Men today. This was my second time. Wow. Even more powerful than before. This might just be the best film of 2006. Got to change some order in my top 10 list Gut wrenching, brutally sad at times, tragic, and yet hopeful. The drama played out on...

I think that kind of represents the chaos of War to some degree...a simple explanation for sure....but maybe that was part of the reason.

Cuaron is really talented. Just look at the diverse films so far, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Harry Potter & The Prizoner of Azkaban, and now Children Of Men. Plus he's a Producer for Pan's Labrynth. Amazing future...

I do understand the point about that....but Caine was a free spirit in this film so to speak...the long hair....the drug usage....the music....that somehow fit his character. He knew he was a dead man anyway....:) With guns pointed at me I would be quickly begging for forgiveness to whom...

Man do I need to see this again. I was so intense the first time. Loved it....but would like another viewing.

That was a mighty poetic moment. Anyone else get a bit teary when Theo pleads to Marichka to get on the boat. That quick moment really got me.

Good review Haggai. This is one of those really rare films where an extra 30-45 minutes would have benefitted the film. Not for more gloom but a few more questions answered. This could be done without dumbing down the story IMO. Maybe we'll get a longer cut on DVD or HD? Regardless, it's...

You're right Allen, the more I think about the humor it really was needed. And some of it was funny. I'd like to see this again but it's so intense I think I should wait for my Prozac to get refilled ;) I can look it up but does anyone know offhand who did the score?

Looks like CoM opens this weekend in my city. :emoji_thumbsup:...can't wait to see it. As Chuck stated, earlier this fall, this one was on my got to see radar. Glad it's finally coming. :)
