Smallville does have some nice moments but there are moments indeed that are major head scratchers! Looking forward to getting season 7 though & catching up.
Wow Todd...I haven't watched Smallville Season 7 yet...awaiting the Blu-ray season 7 next month. That's kind of how I do TV shows these days. Don't watch any of it until the DVD or now BD version hits. Then it's a weekend marathon. Intense but fun.
All of our views on films are 100% subjective though...what works for me, might be lacking for others. And we'll rationalize & try to explain away why it did or didn't. And it won't change anyone's opinion. I do strongly disagree that Superman is more flawed than Nolan's Batman? No way on...
Pete, not trying to be argumentative but what's your source for the smallville fans displeasure? Since I watch Smallville, you've pricked my curiosity.
Good summary Larry. :emoji_thumbsup: You mentioned goose bumps...I think I said this back in 2006 and it's worth repeating: The Superman Theme by John Williams might just be the best and most cinematic theme ever recorded. Yep...themes from Star Wars, Raiders, Titanic have there rightful...
Watching SR in HD-DVD on a 1080p Sony Pearl Projector (112 inch screen)....you can see where some of that budget went to. Seriously, despite the softness to it, the CGI shots are incredible and the action moments look real. Not just the plane rescue but the final hour...the plane/boat events and...
The BR 'only' has Dolby Digital Plus track that is owned by the lossless TRueHD track on the HD-DVD if you have that choice. Otherwise, yes go grab the Blu-ray!
Ok Chuck, watch out! :D Don't make Timobi angry...you wouldn't like me when I'm angry. ;) All this chit chat earlier today about Superman Returns got me in the mood for it this evening. Haven't re-visited this since I first got the HD-DVD version back in late 2006. No need to re-hash my...
Well, I loved Superman Returns...epecially in it's IMAX form. I've stated this several times but SR in IMAX remains one of my favorite cinematic experiences. There were some personal variables going on that heightened that experience but it was pure joy seeing it that way. I liked the kid...
In Goodfellas form. ;) My name is F___ing Superman...here to Fight F____ing truth, F_____ing justice, & all that F____ing stuff. What are you F_____ing looking at? Do I F_____ing amuse you?
Wish I hadn't read the past few pages. I'm about to begin the HD-DVD of Smallville Season 5. I figured Jonathon Kent would die sooner than later...since they certainly flirted with this in Seasons 3 & 4. But Smallville has gone such a different direction than I thought I wasn't so sure. No...
Agree. I like the suit better in Returns as well. I finally got my HD-DVD in of Superman Returns earlier this week and watched it. :) Pretty tough challenge to equal the experience I had this summer seeing SR in IMAX. All 3 IMAX trips were with one of my best friends...HTF man Josh.C and his...
Good one Mike! Dang, you're observant! I think it is a combo after all....good call there. Need to find updated cover art. Not a big fan of the combos either but I'm a HD-DVD disciple for now ;)
Good stuff Lou. I think there is alot of potential there. Singer is capable of showing this and is able to go down other roads as well. The blood link was a big one in SR, but not until the end really. What hooked me in was the portrayal and the performance of Superman/Kent by Routh. While I...
